Tribe Money Pools simplifies group finance by enabling users to pool, manage, and govern money together. While the existing mobile app addressed core needs, users needed a desktop version for easier oversight and administration. Our team developed the Tribe Money web application, a responsive, accessible platform that enhances visibility, governance, and trust. The application bridges the usability gap, supports more formal group workflows, and improves features forkey segments like student clubs, community groups, and shared households.

This project explores the challenges faced by individuals living with dementia and the caregivers who support them, many of whom struggle with limited resources and guidance. Through interviews and secondary research, we uncovered the emotional, physical, and financial burdens of dementia caregiving and insights into the unique needs of different caregiver groups. The result is a Shopify website and companion booklet that equips our sponsor with tools to educate, comfort, and engage their audience. These materials are designed to raise awareness, foster empathy, and offer practical support to caregivers at every stage of the journey.

Maintaining security patches across Android branches requires constant developer effort to manually adapt patches and resolve complex merge conflicts. With hundreds of security fixes incoming each month, this process is slow, error-prone, and diverts valuable engineering time from higher-impact work. Vidar transforms patch maintenance with AI-powered automation, using large language models to resolve rejected patches and generate clean, context-aware fixes. By eliminating much of the tedious manual intervention, Vidar accelerates security updates, reduces developer workload, and ensures vulnerabilities are patched quickly and reliably across diverse downstream branches, strengthening the security of the Android ecosystem without disrupting ongoing development efforts.

A student’s college years are a volatile time of their life because of the introduction of many financial elements like: credit cards, student loan debt, car payments, and rent. However, incoming college students often lack prior financial education. This can lead to long-term issues like debt and poor spending habits. WalletWizard is a budgeting and savings tool that builds on existing personal finance solutions by teaching through motivating gamification elements. By making financial planning interactive and engaging, WalletWizard empowers young adults to make smarter financial decisions and gain confidence managing money.

To address the challenge of understanding regional disparities in restaurant closures, membership status, and staffing trends across Washington, we partnered with the Washington Hospitality Association (WHA) to analyze internal member data. This project supports WHA in understanding trends and challenges within the state’s restaurant industry, enabling executives to better support member restaurants. The outcome was an interactive Power BI dashboard that visualizes survival rates, membership activity by county, and employee retention. This tool has had a significant impact by enabling WHA to identify struggling businesses more effectively, recognize regional trends, and enhance their support strategies for members across the state. For example, it showed a big drop in closures from 2024 to 2025 and pointed out that counties like King and Pierce have the most inactive members, insights that can help WHA focus outreach efforts and make smarter policy decisions.

Today’s job searchers know firsthand how important tracking job applications is when hundreds of applications are involved. However, keeping track of interview dates, resume versions, and other helpful metadata wastes time that could be better spent on completing more applications. Using a spreadsheet or another rote mechanism for inputting each application is common but far from an ideal solution. Willow reduces the labor involved in tracking applications by offering an email-based forwarding system to organize and analyze job applications, enabling users to spend more time on applications not admin.

This sponsored project by Microsoft supports the Customer Support and Services (CSS) Team, which helps customers resolve technical issues and maximize the value of Microsoft products. Z.AI, the team’s internal AI tool, initially faced challenges due to its steep learning curve and usability limitations, making prompt engineering difficult for many users. To address this issue, we redesigned Z.AI with a more intuitive interface and improved user workflows. This allows the CSS team to more easily create, test, and iterate on AI prompts, enhancing their ability to support customers efficiently and effectively.
