UW college students sometimes run into safety hazards during social occasions, but existing peer support solutions are either overly general or intrusive. Informed by user research and testing, we created SipSafe, a discreet, UW-specific mobile app which includes scheduled check-ins, group messaging, and real-time notifications. SipSafe empowers students to be more accountable to their peers via automated check-in reminders. The platform improves student safety and fosters ethical social involvement throughout university communities by offering a customized, non-intrusive solution.
